As an alternative to presenting Recollections to the children right at the end of the school year, many schools use it as a class project during the final few weeks of the summer term. In this way, the whole class (including the teacher) can have great fun reminiscing and the children leave primary school with a beautiful book full of memories to look back on and enjoy in years to come.

Recollections has been of great benefit to children who find the transition from primary to secondary school daunting. Recording feelings about the past and future has eased a number of children’s anxieties about starting senior school.

“Our Year 6 pupils loved their Recollections files. The Year 6 teacher supervised the completing of the pages and they were able to do this during the literacy hour during the last few weeks of the summer term.

They had so much fun during the last week of term finishing them off with photographs, collecting autographs etc. The completed files were then presented to the children at our end of term assembly. Thank you so much, and we will be in touch next year to order Recollections.”

“This is the first year we have ordered Recollections for our Year 6 children - but it certainly won’t be the last! The children loved the personal folders and they felt just so special and valued. Thanks for offering this service.”

Nicki Shewring, Year 6 Teacher

Oliver Tomkins Junior School, Swindon

“The children thoroughly enjoyed working on the books. They gave them a focus on which to concentrate, as well as keeping them occupied positively at the end of term after SATs etc. It also gave them the opportunity to think back over their primary years and talk and laugh about the good and not so good times! Thank you.”
